what a week in belfast at the 2008 World championships 

Congratulations to all the soloists, and team dancers that participated in the 2008 World Championships in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was an amazing week of competition, and it wasn’t unusual to see MHOB up in the results in most of the competitions. The Academy returned back with 82 Solo World, Team World, and recall medals - quite a haul.

The solo dancers from the Academy showed that they could perform with the best in the World. Ten of our soloist recalled in their Championships with half of them placing in the top 15 of their competition.  The teams were equally impressive. The Academy prepared 8 different teams to the World Championships - and 7 of the teams recalled and placed.  Both Figure Choreographies, which also won the 2007 North American Championships,  made it through to the medals, along with 5 of the Academy’s ceili teams. 

Without the dedication of the dancers, parents and teachers - and the support of the entire Academy - none of this would have been possible. There were many from the Academy that followed the results online and sent well wishes to the dancers from back home.  Additionally the entire Academy's support of these  dancer's fundraising activities were instrumental in seeing their hard work become a reality.  Thank you.

The World Championships in 2009 will be held in Philadelphia, PA. It will be the first time that the World Championships will be held in the United States and with some hard work, focus and practice - we look forward to reaching that top step up the podium.  Congratulations again to all the dancers.
